　四字熟語を勉強したことがありますか。

四字熟語とは、漢字四文字で色々な物事や考え方を表したもののことです。

先日、日本人にどんな四字熟語が一番好きかを聞いたアンケートを見ました。

一位は「一期一会」でした。

茶道から生まれた考え方で、「この人とは、もしかしたらもう会えないかもしれない。

だから、一緒に過ごしているこの時を大切にしよう」　という意味です。

この言葉を選んだ人は、全体の46％もいて、二位以下を大きく引き離していました。

人との付き合いを大事にしたいと思っている人が多いことが分かりますね。

ちなみに二位は「七転八起」、三位は「温故知新」、四位は「一所懸命」、五位は「質実剛健」でした。

I guess this shows that there are a lot of people that want to emphasize the importance of relationships with other people.

Incidentally, the second placed Yo Ji Juku Go was “Shichi Ten Ha Ki” (loosely translated “Seven times you fall, eight times you get up” ) . The third most popular was “On Kochi Chi Shin” (loosely translated means “We get new ideas from learning from the past”). The fourth was “Issho Ken Mei” (loosely translated means “Trying as hard as I possibly can”). The fifth was “Shitsu Jitsu Gou Ken” (loosely translated means “Unaffected and sincere or doing something with fortitude and vigor”
